Most, if not all, players quickly become familiar with Yunguo and how she feels most at home surrounded by Bamboo. If you’ve been lucky enough to buy Bamboo Seeds and sow them, you may notice that days upon days pass by and they don’t seem to ever reach maturity.
In this player-made guide, I tell you how to grow Bamboo in Petit Planet, so you don’t make the same mistake as I did, and why they struggle to grow in the first place.

How To Grow Bamboo in Petit Planet
If your Bamboo is stuck in its awkward teenage phase and refusing to fully grow, it has nothing to do with your Planet or climate, and everything to do with its placement on your Planet.
What I mean by this is, your Bamboo needs ample space to grow, ideally around 3 tiles of space in each direction to become fully grown.
This seems… silly, as you can cluster other tree types that have visually thicker trunks than the Bamboo, but logic means nothing in this game where you explore space in a flying car.
Once spread out, your Bamboo will grow on the next calendar day. I also recommend keeping the Bamboo away from cliff edges, as again, it won’t supply enough tiles to grow and therefore will stay unharvestable.
After the Bamboo grows up, you’re free to move it around and put them closer together. I moved mine to cluster Yunguo’s house, hoping it would bring her closer to home whilst residing on my Planet.
How To Get Bamboo Seeds

You can find Bamboo Seeds on Starsea Voyages, in the pop-up local markets on Islets. If you somehow find Bamboo Trees, you can also pick these up using your shovel to relocate them to your Planet.
Note: You may also find them in Glenn’s Seed Store, so check your own and your friends’ daily. I can’t recall if I ever found them in Glenn’s store myself, so I’m tagging this on as a note…

Why do I need Bamboo?
It’s always good to have a variety of wood types, as they typically appear in Neighbour quests. For Bamboo, most notably, this material is the backbone of the Yunguo’s Homi Decor questline, as she feels most nostalgic and at home with the Harvestsong set, which primarily uses Bamboo to create.
What can I use Bamboo Shoots for?
These are great in recipes, especially the Bamboo Apple Slushie, which is Yunguo’s favourite dish. To create it, you need 1x Bamboo Shoot and a Purple Rarity Fruit in the Cooking Pot.
