Indie Italian developer and publisher Unrelated Studio has revealed its upcoming title. It’s called Lofsöng, and it’s an art-driven exploration puzzle adventure. The team just dropped a new trailer today, giving a glimpse of the game.

Lofsöng is coming to Xbox Series and PC through Steam, but there’s no release date yet. The game lets you wander through a dead world trying to decode messages left behind using sound and weird geometry.

You play as a small, kind of childlike figure wearing a strange and bulky headgear. You get a shapeshifting origami companion, which actually changes form to help you move around. It can turn into a kite, a glider, or even a sailboat to help you cross the massive Dust Sea.

You unlock new forms as you go, so the more you explore, the more ways you get to move around. Lofsöng is a completely wordless narrative. So, there’s no dialogue and no map. You’re expected to listen, observe, and figure things out on your own.

Lofsöng has a brutalist, post-apocalyptic landscape

In the game, Earth is dead. It’s a grey desert full of dust and ashes, with a massive Exclusion Zone stretching for miles under a permanent nuclear winter. As you move closer to the centre of it all, you drift into something more cosmic and unknown.

You need to listen to vibrations and echoes, so sound is the main way you interact with everything. Somewhere inside stone and sound, there’s a hidden language that will help you communicate with the future. So, you must explore and figure that out.

Geometry and sound work together to communicate things that words can’t. You play the sculptures, unlock mechanisms, and try to understand what the stone is trying to tell you. The progression system is based entirely on discovery and recognition.
