If you’ve seen players chopping trees across Bridger Western, you’re probably wondering how to get the axe they’re wielding. Trees now have another purpose in Bridger Western, rather than just being for environmental decoration.
Selling lumber from trees can make you Moola, but so can fishing. To do this, you need a fishing rod.
How to Get an Axe in Bridger Western
You need an axe to chop trees down in Bridger Western, but only one NPC sells this item. Head towards the location behind Anthill Island, which is to the left of the tunnel at the Red Corner Fight Club. There’s a wooden lodge here, with tree logs piled up outside.
Visit this lodge to find the Lumber NPC, who sells an axe for 250 Moola. It works similarly to the fishing rod, in that it is a utility-type item, which means it takes priority over any other item type in your inventory.
While the primary use of the axe is to chop trees, you can also use it as a melee weapon.
How to Chop Trees
With your axe in hand, you can approach any tree to start chopping it down. You can sell each piece of acquired lumber for 20 Moola, but one of the main purposes of chopping trees is to obtain Rokakaka Fruit Seeds, Wooden Stakes, and Dogbane Herbs.
The amount of lumber you get per tree is randomised, but you do get 10 EXP for each tree you chop down. The trees you can hit with your axe are located within the Forest, Swamp, Anthill Island, and close to the Outlaw Camp.
Those found in the Swamp have 2x more HP than those in the Forest and have a chance to drop Dogbane Herbs. Forest trees will not drop these herbs.
What Are Wooden Stakes?
Whilst Wooden Stakes have a low drop chance when chopping trees, they are useful when it comes to fending off vampires. The stake remains in them for around 10 seconds, burning them throughout the duration. However, vampires can attempt to pull it out of themselves.
What Are Rokakaka Fruit Seeds Used For?
Another item that has a chance to drop from trees is Rokakaka Seeds. By planting these seeds, you can grow Rokakaka Fruit, which is a required item when trading with other players.

As of right now, you can trade Stands and Cards. Trading is also the only known way of potentially getting a Shiny Stand.
Dogbane Herb Uses
There are three ways of using Dogbane Herbs. The first is to sell it for 2.5K Moola, the second is to wipe your Stand, and the third is to reduce your character’s age by 20 years.
Dogbane Herbs have a chance to drop from the trees in the Swamp, but you also have a 4% chance to get them when opening chests dropped by enemies.
I recommend collecting Dogbane Herbs for the extra Moola, but lowering your age is also a good shout, as it prevents your character from reaching Limbo.
