Tis the third year of Fischfright, meaning a new roster of powerful, strange, haunted-imbued rods has begun their widespread takeover of each island port. Ideally, you’ll want to get all of these rods because they’re limited, even if you think they’re naff. But which of them have actual long-term usability?
Find out with my Fischfright 3 Rods Tier List, where I compare each new rod in a classic ranking system that ignores the current non-event meta to have some Halloween fun, and help you prioritise how you grind this event.
Let’s get into it.
Fischfright 3 Rods Tier List
S-TIER
The absolute must-have Rods. These are worth the lengthy time investment to get and are the best rods for the limited Fischfright 3 event. That said, don’t mistake them for end-game meta rods. But if you don’t play competitively, then they’re ideal collection pieces.
Omniscient Spinecaster: Already has pretty decent stats, but its abilities are hauntingly good. Has an Offensive and Defensive mode to alternate between and change how you catch fish, which is especially helpful when trying to hunt for fish which bite and move differently.

A-TIER
Solid alternatives to the top tier. These rods have a calm balance between great rod and utility, and fair questlines. Top tier rods require top-tier (long and difficult) quests, so having these as your Fischfright 3 loot isn’t so bad.
Webreaver Rod: Decent stats, but an incredible ability. Conjures little spiders that hunt extra fish in the area and apply the webbed mutation to them. The spiders also help during the catch minigame by inflicting venom on fish, causing them to slow down, while the progress bar gains a short buff. Overall, very solid and a very nice rod to have access to.
Control: 0.03Luck: 250%Lure Speed: 125%Resilience: 10%
Doomsekkar Rod: This rod has overall decent stats, with the main hang-ups being its hugely debuffed Resilience and the lesser control. However, its Pumpkin Bombing abilities almost entirely negate the -666% Resilience, making it a decent rod overall, even if not end-game material or reliable against Progress Locked Fish.
Control: 0.1 (+10%)Luck: 275%Lure Speed: 100%Resilience: -666%
B-TIER
Pretty average overall. These rods will fade into obscurity and have very little use outside of recency bias. They’re average, but nothing compelling enough to use long-term without solid enchantments to upgrade them.
Eldritch Rod: Has a progress bar boost, but it’s an unreliable buff given it only has an 8% chance every 1 second. Other buffs are also percentage-based and not a guarantee to happen per catch, making this rod pretty average overall.
Control: 0.05Luck: 230%Lure Speed: 90%Resilience: 15%
Boglin Branch: Chance for a Boglin Mutation, and has the chance to stun or freeze fish periodically when catching. Not a bad bargain overall, especially considering the questline isn’t too tricky.
Control: 0.05Luck: 180%Lure Speed: 80%Resilience: 20%
C-TIER
These rods fall short of the average mark, being the easiest to get and coincidentally the weakest of the bunch. Still, if you have the rest, why not complete the set and get these, too?
Dutchman’s Rod: Takes forever to grind, has average stats, no custom UI, and only a 9x mutation multiplier chance (estimated). This rod definitely feels more like a trick than a treat.
Control: 0.1Luck: 180%Lure Speed: 100%Resilience: 10%
D-TIER
Flimsy Rod 2.0 dupes. The worst OAT.
No D-Tier Rods
