Cats and rats have been infiltrating my gaming feed. Yesterday, it was all about I Am Plague, a roguelite where a colony of rats takes over the entire ground below a grand capital. And today, I bumped into CitaDrill, an underground city which is run by a bunch of cats. Of course, this is a roguelite, too!
It’s an expansive roguelite action mining simulation, and you’re looking at a top-down, side-on view. Publisher CobraTekku Games and Canadian developer Studio Moka have announced that the game will be a part of the upcoming Steam Next Fest, which runs from October 19th to October 26th, 2026. There’ll also be a new demo available for the event.
In CitaDrill, the planet is full of horrible creatures
You play as the Captain, drilling into the planet, gathering resources, unlocking buildings and expanding your underground city. There are waves of creatures to survive and boss fights. Each run can unlock different ways to play, including new captains and city layouts.
Then there are the citapedes, the colossal underground monsters, endless hordes of deep denizens and all sorts of hazardous environments. And accompanying you throughout your expeditions is C.A.T., your dependable Drill O.S. and supervisor.
The city moves with the drill, so you’ll be placing buildings inside your travelling settlement, assigning workers to stations and turning it into an efficient underground operation. The goal is to have lots of productive workers and plenty of big guns.
You’ll be exploring for resources while trying to keep the drill intact and your crew alive. CitaDrill has interactive dialogue on screen as well, including some amusing bits, while C.A.T. offers hints to make you head in the right direction.
You can wishlist CitaDrill on Steam now. The full release is slated for later this year.
