Don’t go into the bloody basement! That’s the motto in solo developer Andrew Morrish’s upcoming game Bad House. The new dungeon crawler auto-battler is the developer’s (whose previous title was Kingsway) next release on Steam.

Bad House now has a demo available on Steam ahead of its full PC release in early 2027. The publisher of the game is The Arcade Crew, the folks behind Drop Duchy and Abyssus. It has a very playful horror-comedy personality; take a look at the trailer and see for yourself!

You move into a new house where the previous tenant has done a runner and left all their stuff behind. You choose your character and skills before heading down the basement, then your combat happens automatically. The abilities you’ve picked work together with items you’ve strategically placed around the room.

There are bombs, spells, traps and summons involved. Also, the previous inhabitants have apparently been extremely generous, leaving behind knives, wands, amulets, rings, swords, shields, armour and other useful possessions.

It’s a basement, but it has multiple floors which constantly change. And the inhabitants include demons, skeletons, bats, the undead and plenty of unidentified occupants. The game politely asks you to respect their personal space whenever possible.

What’s included in the Bad House demo?

The demo covers the first four floors of the basement while letting you meet co-tenants Blake and Rory. You also get to explore the living area. Tenants who visit the open basement floors have a tendency to mysteriously vanish without a trace, so be aware of that.

The demo gives you a first look at the property after market-wide interest and the previous tenant’s sudden disappearance. You can check out the upgradable skills, collect useful items donated by previous tenants, and poke around the mystery spread across the different floors. So, do check out the Bad House demo on Steam.
