When Mike Greenland and Dr Gavin Jordan returned to the UK in 2002, having spent time working in Africa and the Himalayas, they were looking for a new challenge. Mike had been working as a Voluntary Services Overseas volunteer at a South African college, teaching a course on community forestry, while Gavin had been assisting the national government of Bhutan in managing their forests.
