PlayStation 5 Players Surprised With New Accessories, Out Soon

Sony has officially unveiled two brand-new audio accessories for PlayStation 5 users, which are set to debut in the coming months. The company revealed the PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset and Pulse Edge Wireless Headset on September 15.

According to an official blog post, the new lineup is built around upgraded planar magnetic drivers and PlayStation Link connectivity. Moreover, both models feature AI-enhanced noise rejection in their integrated microphones for clearer voice chat.

The new drivers are designed to deliver precise spatial sound, making it easier to pick up directional cues like footsteps or reloads. Sony has added larger planar drivers to deliver deeper bass while retaining the clean sound of the Pulse Elite.

Both models support PS Link through an included USB-C adapter. The technology provides lossless, low-latency audio and allows the headsets to connect with supported PS5 consoles, PS Portal, PC, and Mac devices.

What sets Pulse Edge apart from the standard PlayStation Pulse headset

For those seeking a premium audio experience, Sony is offering the Pulse Edge model. While both models come with similar features like low-latency audio and connectivity, the Edge model adds several high-end upgrades.

Its planar magnetic drivers use eight magnets per driver, while the standard Pulse uses four per driver. Additionally, the Pulse Edge has active noise cancellation to reduce unwanted background noise. A detachable boom mic is also included, with AI-enhanced noise rejection; when it is removed, players can still use the hidden microphone.

The premium model further sets itself apart by offering built-in game audio and chat balance controls for PS5. It also offers a dedicated 3.5mm audio jack and a carrying case. On top of that, the two also feature a form factor with rotating earcups that lay flat for easy travel.

The standard headset will launch in select markets this holiday season, while the Pulse Edge Wireless Headset will follow in early 2027. Exact launch dates, preorder dates, and pricing details have yet to be announced.
