Command an Army Tier List

S-TIER

The absolute strongest units in the game. Those here are the ones I’d most recommend investing in for your front lines.

Spartan
Incredibly OP. Has a powerful shield that takes ages to break, and still deals damage whilst tanking hits.
Flame Archer
The absolute best ranged DPS in the game. Can be placed creatively due to the arched shots, and hit targets will ignite, causing additional DoT.
Lancer
The highest evolution of the cavalry. It gains huge stat advantages over its lesser evolutions and shreds through enemy lines.
Imperial Halbardier
Upgraded from the Halbardier, the Imperial Halbardier stacks stats to become the ideal defensive attacker in the game.
Mace
Melee DPS that breaks blocks. S-Tier for breaking shields. Synergises really well with shielding units.
Samurai
Carves through enemies. Deals a little less damage than the Berserker, but is somewhat of an indirect upgrade to it, as it has higher HP, more range, and tanks hits better.

A-TIER

Great alternatives to the top tier to help fill out your army quota and dominate battles. This tier houses powerful assets with good stat distributions.

Halbardier
Can break blocks, counter Spartans and Cavalry troops, and charge the flag with ease. The Halbardier is one of the better spearmen stat-wise, and the ideal troop for this role.Break blocks, counter Spartans and cavalry troops. Charge the flag. Better stat-wise.
Cavalryman
The better version of the Scoutrider. Completes the same tasks just as efficiently, but with more stats.
Scoutrider
The lesser cavalry evolution and still incredibly strong. Counters most other unit types, including archers, unbraced spearmen, and behind units. Main drawbacks are the huge hitbox and lower unit count.
Imperial Wall
The third Shieldman. Has the best defensive stats and is an incredible tank and stall unit.
Crossbowman
Ranged DPS, meaning they constantly attack and barrage enemies in showers of arrows. Considering their role, their DPS is pretty good too, and stacks over time because of their recessive position during fights. No evolution just yet.
Berserker
Highest DPS in the game but die incredibly quickly and have a low unit count. Quite tricky to use due to their glass cannon properties.
Immortal
Not the highest DPS or health, but has a high unit count. Relies on other units to bolster its own capabilities, making it a bit of a hindrance to use functionally.
Longbowman
A better version of the Archer with more range and slightly better damage to ping enemies.
Spear Vanguard
The upgraded version of the Spear Militia, has similar properties but more stats to execute with.

B-TIER

Everything residing in this tier and above are the ideal units to enlist in your war. This works because of the star system in Command an Army, which prevents equipping only 4-Stars. They’re decently strong, but often fall short, needing support from synergising units to excel.

Spear Militia
Similar to the shieldman, except they have lower block HP in exchange for higher stat DMG. They’re better tanks than shieldmen.
Elite Javaliner
The upgraded Javaliner. Has better stats and protective capabilities.
Archers
Arch their shots, so they can hit from less than optimal positions.
Sentinel
The second Shieldman. Offers better defensive stats than its lesser evolution.
Knight
The third Mercenary. Knight has the best stats of the trio, but no new or stronger abilities

C-TIER

A step-up from the beginner tier, these units are fine, but forgettable. They exist as a way to escape the early-game and start customising your army, but quickly lose all ground after some progression.

Javeliner
A walking shield. Good for blocking projectile assaults, but lacks in fundamental stats.
Pikeman
The Pikeman has a similar tale to the Spearman. Its stats and utility are better wielded by the Halbardier.
Spearman
After the update, Spearmen have fallen off and have a more refined variant (the Halbardier). The lesser stats and overall utility potential have dropped this unit into the C-tier.
Shieldman
Barely an attacker, but excellent tanky defence. Good for capturing the flag and defending points.
Squire
The secondary Mercenary. Squire has higher stats, but no better abilities.

D-TIER

The beginner units. They provide basic stats and help you understand the fleet commands, but aren’t viable long-term.

Mercenary
Pretty mediocre at everything, and there are stronger alternative units that reside in higher tiers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Player Class is the best?

Choosing this depends on how you prefer to fight, but I think the Assassin is one of the best due to its speed. It isn’t impactful in terms of damage or range, but you can quickly move between action points to help your troops and whittle down clusters of enemies.
