An EA Sports game, referred to by fans as a ‘generational title’, has made its way back to the PlayStation 5. The game returns with some major updates and new features that have fans excited.
The global launch of NHL 27 comes on the heels of numerous patches and fixes. Career Mode, general gameplay, presentation, and Hockey Ultimate Team have all received improvements, along with other parts of the experience.
Every new feature in NHL 27
Set for its global launch today on PlayStation 5 and Xbox, NHL 27 addresses many of the issues players raised in NHL 26. However, the overall gameplay has little else to offer. As revealed on Cinelinx, no new modes have been added to the core game. Further, there are no new features either.
However, everything the game has improved has enhanced the overall experience. A lot of focus has gone into improving CPU-controlled players and their AI, which previously had issues like dumping the puck, as reported by Althon Sports.
Other improvements in Update 1 include a new broadcast experience that tones down the pomp just a little to make it feel more authentic. It also includes updates made to trades, free agency, claims, and salary-cap logic.
The update also fixed issues such as team captains being demoted to alternate captains when resigning with the same franchise. Roster management mechanics, stability, camera issues, mascot clipping, and area atmosphere have all been significantly improved as well.
While various updates have improved gameplay immensely, players remain unsatisfied in certain areas. The Connected Franchise mode, which makes its return, has been flagged for its limitations. While there are some who believe that the improvements to the game are a step forward, another camp of fans feel that more could have been done. EA did take a step in the right direction; players just wish it was bigger.
