Resident Evil fans can pick up two legendary entries in the horror franchise on PS5 at a low price. Capcom has heavily discounted two Resident Evil games from the PS4 generation that kicked off its era of remaking classics from its older catalog.
On the PlayStation Store, both Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 are currently discounted by a whopping 80%. Both can be bought for $7.99 individually, down from their usual price of $39.99. The games originally debuted at $59.99 when they were released in 2019 and 2020, respectively. However, those looking to grab both games in the Raccoon City package will be disappointed to learn that it hasn’t been discounted.
Why horror fans shouldn’t ignore Resident Evil discount
The Resident Evil franchise has long been a staple of the horror genre. The games have spawned several feature films, TV shows, novels, comic books, and more. Capcom’s remake of Resident Evil 2 reimagined the game with a third-person, graphically intense perspective. The structure of the game and many elements of its plot were also changed, along with new features, updated performances, and more.
The developer did the same for Resident Evil 3, and the two games offer an interesting contrast. While the second game perfects a tension-filled atmosphere, the third game focuses more on bombastic action. Resident Evil 2 was critically acclaimed on release, while the third game didn’t fare as well with critics. However, following years of updates and discounts, both are enjoyable titles that no horror fan should miss.
Capcom continues to make new Resident Evil games, with the most recent title, Requiem, also being a hit with critics and players. The next game in the series will also be a remake, updating the 2000 title, Resident Evil – Code: Veronica, for a new audience soon.
