Fakutori. What do you think that name means? Well, in this case, it’s just a different pronunciation for the word ‘factory.’ And yes, it’s also the name of an upcoming game. Speaking of which, the first demo for the laid-back automation and factory-building puzzle game Fakutori is now live and free to play on Steam for PC players.
It’s quite interesting, actually. This factory is a ridiculous one as it lets you automate the four classic elements: Earth, Water, Fire, and Air. Combine elemental blocks, see what happens, discover something new, then combine that new thing with something else. And just keep going.
The combinations aren’t that illogical, though. Some results might be pretty easy to predict, while others get increasingly strange. Fire plus Water gives you Steam, for example. But then what happens when you put a Wood block next to a Fire block, or when a Shooting Star falls on top of an Earth block? The game lets you find that out!
The full version will have more than 100 different elements, and every element comes with its own recipe and quirks. Discovering them also opens up new possibilities, with the goal being to gradually fill out your compendium.
Right now, the Fakutori demo has more than 35 unique materials, including Shooting Stars, Fizzy Water, and Rainbows. There are a lot of things to try out. You’ve got automation-heavy games, experimental crafting, cosy building, and relaxing exploration.
Meanwhile, the full game lets you eventually craft the concept of Time, summon mystical magic blocks, and even build a factory that runs on souls. Umm… that escalated quickly! The game can also let you create a black hole by locking nine Antimatter blocks into a grid.
Fakutori launches on Steam later this year, but the demo is already available. So, do give it a try!
