Hela: of Mice & Magic finally has a release date. Knights Peak and Windup Games have confirmed that the heartwarming open-world adventure will launch on December 1st, 2026. The game is coming to PC and consoles on the same day.
The game will be available digitally and physically on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5, with the physical version being the feature-packed Harmony Edition. Xbox Series S and PC players will get the game digitally only.
The team dropped a new atmospheric CGI story trailer, giving us another look at the lore and emotional side of Hela: of Mice & Magic. The game takes place in an open world filled with folklore and quiet wonder inspired by Northern Sweden and Scandinavia.
The world is full of forests, flower-filled meadows, wetlands, underground burrows, treetop canopies, tranquil lakes and rugged mountains. You see the world from the perspective of a tiny mouse, so everyday objects are much bigger in the adventure.
Hela: of Mice & Magic is about a tiny character in a giant world
As the small but agile mouse, you become one of the trusted familiars of a kind witch who has protected the land for generations. As the world starts falling out of harmony and the witch becomes ill, you take on the responsibilities she can no longer manage alone.
The witch shares some of her own magic with her tiny companions. As a mouse, you head out into the wild, gather ingredients, brew magical potions, solve puzzles, meet creatures, uncover mysteries and lend a helping paw wherever one is needed.
The magical backpack given to the mice can help you explore further. Called Froggy, the backpack acts as a constant companion. You can use it to reach higher and interact with the world in ways that can sometimes be surprisingly relaxing.
