The galaxy is falling apart, and you have to save it. Yep, that’s how most of the sci-fi roguelikes start. And this new game is no different. But what’s different is that every turn in it is a new day in space. It’s Stellar Freight: Endless Horizon, and it’s opening up a time-limited playtest starting today.

The game’s coming from publisher Two Cakes Studio and developer Satellite235. It’s a mix of space trucking, tactical combat, and crew management. You get the constant fear of dying permanently on a giant, stressful space road trip.

Trade Federation is desperately trying to stop everything from collapsing, while there are pirates are everywhere. You play as the captain of a freight ship hauling cargo through deep space while trying not to get vaporised.

The game is turn-based, roguelike, and an RPG, and you only get one life. Hence, every delivery, every fight, and every choice can completely change how your run goes.

What does the Stellar Freight: Endless Horizon playtest offer?

The playtest gives you an early look at the core systems of Stellar Freight: Endless Horizon. Resource management, along with ship customisation, crew relationships, and branching narrative choices.

Since every turn is a new day in space, each day can throw random encounters and nasty decisions at you. One minute you’re answering a distress call, the next you’re dealing with pirates or exploring dangerous, abandoned stations that probably contain useful loot.

You can upgrade hulls, weapons, shields, and cargo space. Crew members also have actual roles. Commanders improve your accuracy in combat, Navigators help guide you toward opportunities, and Engineers keep the ship from turning into floating scrap metal after battles. You also have to keep everyone paid.

You can request access to the Stellar Freight: Endless Horizon playtest through Steam. The game will release in the next quarter on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
