In news we didn’t expect to see today, a 2017 PS4 action game might be getting a native PS5 port, if a rating board entry is anything to go by. As spotted by internet sleuths, North America’s ESRB has rated Gang Beasts for PS5. The game is currently playable on current-gen platforms via backwards compatibility.
Will PS4 action game Gang Beasts offer a free PS5 upgrade?
Developed by Boneloaf, Gang Beasts is a beat-em-up game that offers both single-player and multiplayer modes. That said, single-player is severely limited, as the game is designed for multiplayer fun.
Gang Beasts was originally published by Double Fine, with Boneloaf taking over rights in 2020. The game received mixed reviews upon launch.
Frankly, we’re not sure how “busy” Gang Beasts’ online multiplayer is. The ESRB rating (thanks, Reddit) did come out of left field.
If Gang Beasts does end up getting a native PS5 port, it might be a free upgrade for existing owners. That’s just our guess, however.
“Gang Beasts is a silly multiplayer party game with surly gelatinous characters, brutal slapstick fight sequences, and absurd hazardous environments, set in the mean streets of Beef City,” an official description reads. “Customize your character and fight local and online enemies in the melee game mode or fight with friends against the gangs of Beef City in the gang game mode.”
We’ll update our readers when we have more information.
