As you might know if you’ve been reading GZ lately, we are established fans of Mulberry County. We write guides for it, and we also keep an eye on what people are looking for… and we were a little puzzled when we saw a lot of people hunting for a Mulberry County Minecraft mod. We were even more puzzled when we found the story tangentially involved us.

What’s The Source Of The Mulberry County Minecraft Mod Rumor?

As far as we can tell, the main source of the story is this video by YouTuber Twixxel. It shows a video from a player’s POV, of what’s supposedly a mod featuring one of the scary monster faces we recognise from the Roblox game. The entity repeatedly harasses the player, eventually seeming to transport them to another plane, before finally dropping them through the floor of the world.

Is There A Mulberry County Minecraft Mod?

In short, we’re pretty certain that the mod shown in the YouTube video isn’t a real Minecraft mod, and that the video is a bit of clever editing to put the monster in and tell a spooky Minecraft story. We can remember terrifying ourselves with the Herobrine creepypasta many moons ago, so we can appreciate the spirit of scary MC storytelling. However, there’s no mod linked, and the monster featured comes straight from Mulberry County. The fact that the entities shown in the video don’t seem to exhibit behaviour you’d normally see from Minecraft mods, and the storyline seems to progress in a way that’s a bit too… cinematic to be real gameplay footage, gave us reason to believe the mod is all a story.

The final nail in the coffin of it being a real mod was a disclaimer in the video description. This video uses scripted editing and sounds to add the main entitys (sic) in post. Please do not ask for the mod. ” That settled it. It’s a bit of clever editing, and a story about some cursed, banned mod. We’d be very careful about any mods you find floating around out there claiming to be the Mulberry County Minecraft mod, as they’re almost certainly not affiliated with the video creator, or the original game’s creator, and likely made afterwards.

Didn’t The Youtube Vid Link To Gamezebo?

Yeah, it looks like it did link to our Mulberry County walkthrough at some point. While we love getting a shout-out, we had nothing to do with any mod, and cannot take any credit for the monster. The feature image used for the walkthrough was a screenshot from Mulberry County by Jackool Studio, with a minimal amount of editing. We’re also pretty sure that’s where the assets in the vid game from. If you want to give credit to the creator of the horrifying images, then Jackool Studio is the guy. We were just covering what we thought was an interesting game. The link seems to have changed since then, so it’s good to see the original artist getting the credit.

Is There Anything Similar?

Interested in something that has a similar vibe to the video, but is a full mod you can download? I’d recommend the wonderland.jar mod. I’ve written a whole feature on it, in fact, and I think it’s definitely worth your time. Other strong recommendations are the better known The Broken Script, and no_moon.jar (I’ve got a feature on that coming up pretty soon, so watch this space.)
