Shot in the Dark is a new main quest in Palia for Subira. It is added with the new Elderwood expansion, and begins by progressing in the main story. As players make progress in the investigation of Elderwood, they will get the chance to hunt the infected animals with the help of Hassian. How to Complete the Shot in the Dark Quest in Palia
Starting the Quest
The Shot in the Dark is the fourth new main quest for Subira. Players will begin this quest depending on their decision at the end of the Nature of Shadows quest. Choosing the “I’ll try hunting” dialogue option triggers the Shot in the Dark quest. Upon initiating the quest, Subira will advise players to ask for help from Hassian in hunting the infected creatures.
Ask Hassian for help in hunting
Hassian will be in Kilima Valley, so travel back there and find him. After finding Hassian, speak to him and explain the situation. Once done, he will tell you to bring a few materials.
Bring the materials to Hassian
Hassian will tell you to gather the following materials and bring them to him.
5x Ancient Wood: Cut the Ancient Trees in the Elderwood map to get the Ancient Wood.
1x Palium Bar: Craft it at the Smelter using 5 Palium Ores.
10x Infected Essence: It is a purple orb that spawns throughout the Elderwood map.
After gathering all of the materials, bring them to Hassian. In return, Hassian will give you 20x Elderwood Arrows and a recipe to craft them. You can craft more Elderwood Arrows at the Worktable on the Housing Plot.
Hunt infected creatures in Elderwood and gather infected essence
Now, go back to the Elderwood to hunt any 3 three infected creatures.
NOTE: You only have to hunt the infected creatures, the ones with the dark aura around them.
One of the best places to find the infected creatures is Okanaa Bog. You can easily find several infected Ogopuu creatures in this area. Go to Okanaa Bog and equip the Elderwood Arrows on your bow. If you come across any infected creature, shoot it down and grab the loot. The infected creatures will also drop the infected Essence.
After hunting three infected creatures, look for the remaining infected essence. You need to gather a total of 50 infected essence.
Return to Subira
Once you have hunted the infected creatures and gathered the infected essence, go back to Subira at the Central Stables. Speak with Subira and tell her that you have the samples. Go through the dialogues, and Subira will mention that Tamala is missing. After the conversation, the Shot in the Dark quest will conclude.
