Rockstar Games has officially announced the delay for GTA VI, confirming that they need more time to finish the game so that players can have an optimal experience when it comes out.
Well, it seems like the fans’ speculations were right all along. The most anticipated game from the past few years, Grand Theft Auto VI, will not be releasing in 2025. Instead, it has been pushed a year further to May 2026. Rockstar Games officially made an announcement recently on their social media and website. The title of the announcement clearly mentions the delay, but it also mentions the first proper release date for the game.
Now, We Have to Wait for Another Year for GTA VI
“Grand Theft Auto VI is Now Coming May 26, 2026”
The announcement mentions that the team needs more time to finish the game so that it exceeds players’ expectations. We all know every Rockstar Games title at launch actually feels like it has been gone through every test segment due to a very low rate of game-breaking bugs and faults. The fact that Rockstar Games produced massive titles like GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2, etc., and all of them received positive reviews in the launch week, shows how much the team actually cares for their product.
“With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.”
It is a no-brainer that a rushed product will always leave behind a massive pothole that can become a negative remark for the company. Rockstar always tries to stay on the safe side to come out on top at every launch. Despite the Delay news, the fans have expected it to happen because there was no further information shared after the reveal trailer for the game back in December 2023.

The fans and the community will be very glad to see more of Vice City and learn more about the Protagonists, Lucia and Jason. We might have to wait and see what Rockstar Games shares with us about GTA VI in 2025.
