“It was never about the plays, it was about being with the people who ‘get’ you.” Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a raunchy New York City romantic comedy film called Players, the latest from filmmaker Trish Sie (of Pitch Perfect 3, The Sleepover, Sitting in Bars with Cake). This is indeed about the “player” culture of super hot hookups and one-night-stands, where a woman helps guys with “plays” until he realizes he wants more than just one-night-stands. Of course, this is the same story they’ve been telling for decades. New York sportswriter Mack has spent years devising successful hook-up “plays” with her friends, but when she unexpectedly falls for one of her high society targets, she must learn what it takes to go from simply scoring to “playing for keeps.” What a pitch. Gina Rodriguez stars as Mack, along with Damon Wayans Jr., Joel Courtney, Augustus Prew, Liza Koshy, Ego Nwodim, Marin Hinkle, and Tom Ellis.
