An Ancient Gardener is an advanced gardening machine introduced with the A Rift in Time expansion of Disney Dreamlight Valley which can automatically dig, plant, and harvest crops without requiring any assistance from the players. It helps greatly in the farming of large batches of crops and if you are someone who likes to plant various crops around the valley, then you need to get your hands on the Ancient Gardener.

In this guide, we’ll go over how to craft and use the Ancient Gardener in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to Unlock and Craft the Ancient Gardener in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The Ancient Gardener is one of the Ancient Machines exclusive to the expansion meaning players will have to get the A Rift in Time DLC to unlock and craft it. There are three different Levels of the Ancient Gardener and each one of them unlocks by upgrading the Level of the Hourglass Tool. The Hourglass Tool also has 3 Levels and each level will cost Mist, an exclusive currency in the expansion.

Upgrading the Hourglass Levels will unlock the following levels of the Ancient Gardener’s crafting recipe.

Hourglass Level 1 (5,000 Mist) – Unlocks recipe for Basic Ancient Gardener (Level 1)

Hourglass Level 2 (10,000 Mist) – Unlocks recipe for Regular Ancient Gardener (Level 2)

Hourglass Level 3 (15,000 Mist) – Unlocks recipe for Advanced Ancient Gardener (Level 3)

The recipes for the Ancient Gardener are found under the Ancient Machines section of the Timebending Table. It is the same table that you use for upgradation of the Hourglass so navigate to the ‘Ancient Machines’ to find the recipes.

Each recipe will cost a certain amount of Mist along with the Ancient Crafting Materials that can only be found using the Hourglass and the previous level of Ancient Gardener while crafting a higher-level Ancient Gardener. The main crafting materials required for each Ancient Gardener are the following.

Mist

Ancient Core (Level 1, 2, and 3)

Ancient Gear

Ancient Pipe

Upon having all the required materials, go to the Timebending Table and select the recipe from the Ancient Machines section to craft it.

How to Use the Ancient Gardener in Disney Dreamlight Valley

After crafting the Ancient Gardener, you will be able to find it in the Utilities category of the Furniture tab. Place down the Ancient Gardener and interact with it to open the Gardener menu. It will show you the number of Gardening Spots it can manage and each Level of Ancient Gardener can manage a certain number of Gardening Spots.

The first option will be to dig the Gardening Spots and each spot will cost 10 Mist. You can set the number of spots up to your requirement or the maximum depending on which Level of Ancient Gardener you are using.

Basic Ancient Gardener – Can dig, plant, and harvest up to a maximum of 15 spots.

Regular Ancient Gardener – Can dig, plant, and harvest up to a maximum of 25 spots.

Advanced Ancient Gardener – Can dig, plant, and harvest up to a maximum of 35 times.

After digging the spots, you will be able to select the seeds that you wish to plant in the spots. Planting each seed will cost you 10 Mist as well. Once the seeds are planted, the Ancient Gardener will water the crops by itself and you will be able to harvest the crops once they are ready by interacting with the Ancient Gardener and selecting the Harvest option. It will harvest all of the planted crops with no additional cost of Mist.

Despite the Level of Ancient Gardener, each one will cost 10 Mist per spot and the only difference among the levels of Ancient Gardener is the capacity of Gardening Spots. If you are a big-time farmer, then you should upgrade to Advanced Ancient Gardener otherwise, the basic or Regular will do just fine.
