Fisch Ancient Kraken Guide

The Ancient Kraken completely evaded having an entry in the Atlantis Bestiary, so you may not know much about it. Whilst the fish is newly discovered as of the Atlantis update, the Ancient Kraken, per its name and lore is a direct descendant of the original Kraken. This deep-sea dweller doesn’t appear in the Bestiary due to its Secret rarity, making it harder to encounter and catch than its Exotic rarity kin.

Catching one requires unlocking the Kraken Pool and waiting for perfect spawn conditions. Much like the Exotic rarity Kraken, the Ancient Kraken only surfaces during a Kraken Spawn Event. Think Megalodon but harder to encounter since the area is locked behind several puzzles. (Covered in the Kraken Pools Guide I linked above).

However, unlike the Kraken Event (and Megalodon Event), the Ancient Kraken also needs Poseidon’s Wrath active for it to spawn. This requires the expensive Poseidon Wrath Totem costing a grizzly 1,500,000 C$ from Poseidon’s Temple. During this 6-minute-long Event, all fish have a 2% chance to receive the Wrath Mutation, increasing their value by x6.5. If the Totem effects expire before the Kraken Event, the hunt will resume but the Ancient Kraken will no longer be a possible catch. Much like the other catch events, only one Kraken is available to catch for the duration.

Good luck catching it however as the Ancient Kraken doubles down. This fish shares preferences with a large percentage of other Kraken Pool residents. This fish only enjoys Truffle Worm bait and Nighttime…

Securing The Catch

When snagged on a line, the Ancient Kraken inflicts -95% Progress Speed and has a Resilience of 1 making it one of the most erratic fish during the catch mini-game. For this, It’s recommended to use a high-resilience rod such as the Abyssal Specter Rod obtained within the Ethereal Abyss of Atlantis. The rod costs 1,004,269 C$ and has 60% Resilience! The highest of any rod as of the Atlantis Update.
