How to Get the Fisch Auric Rod – Worth the Drop Chance?

The Fisch Auric Rod is a reward that has a chance to spawn in a certain type of chest. The question is, is the rod worth your time?

How do you obtain the Auric Rod, and is it any good?

How to Get the Auric Rod

The Auric Rod is obtainable via Sunken Chests. We do have a full guide on how to find these Sunken Chests, including the drop rate chances of each reward depending on the rarity of the chest! In a Standard-rarity Sunken Chest, you have a 0.25% chance of obtaining the Auric Rod. On the other hand, if you open a Mythic Sunken Chest, you have an increased chance of 2.5%.

Whilst the guide linked above explains the Sunken Chests in more detail, I’ll also summarise it here quickly. Sunken Chests are a server-wide event that spawns every hour and despawns after 10 minutes. They appear close by to any one of the islands, which is announced in the chat box. Usually, 3 to 5 chests spawn, and whoever finds them first gets to open them.

Auric Rod Stats

Admittedly, the Auric Rod stats are pretty lacklustre. It’s a great mid-game rod or can be used as one of the earlier rods for new players. In short, if you already have a better rod, you don’t really need this one.

Passive Ability

While the stats aren’t the best for the Auric Rod, it’s the passive ability that slightly saves the day. With every fish you catch whilst using the Auric Rod, you have a 20% chance of getting a fish that has 1 of 5 Mutations:

Aureate
Increases the sell value by 4x
Aurous
Increases the sell value by 2x
Aureolin
Increases the sell value by 5x
Aurelian
Increases the sell value by 3x
Aurulent
Increases the sell value by 5x

A 20% chance isn’t huge, so you’re not always guaranteed to get one of these mutations. However, they do sell for much more, especially the Aurulent, Aureolin and Aureate fishes!
