“We’ve got things to do… Are you coming or not?” Array Releasing has unveiled the official trailer for an indie film titled Frybread Face and Me, the first narrative feature made by acclaimed Native American filmmaker Billy Luther following his doc Miss Navajo. This premiered at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival and it also won the Audience Award at the Mill Valley Film Festival this year. Frybread Face and Me follows two adolescent Navajo cousins from different worlds as they bond over a summer spent on their grandmother’s Arizona ranch, learning more about their family’s past and about themselves. Produced by Chad Burris and executive produced by Taika Waititi, the film stars Kier Tallman, Charley Hogan, Martin Sensmeier, Kahara Hodges, and Sarah Natani. The reviews describe it as “a touching coming-of-age story brimming with authenticity and the passion of its creator.” Looks good!
