Ever get nostalgic for the old days of technology and gaming? Well, now you can experience it all over again in Videoverse, developed by the creator of One Night Stand. Browse social media pages reminiscent of the 2000s and scour through forums in this narratively driven PC game that takes place, well… on a PC!

If you’d like to give Videoverse a go, you can purchase and download the game on the official Itchi.io page or Steam. I’d also like to note that it’s available on not only Windows but Linux and macOS too!

He’s Just Like Me For Real

Your choices matter as you travel back in time to play as a character named Emmett. As an artistic video game fan, he loves to explore the interwebs, connecting with like-minded people. He even likes looking at fan art, which I can relate to. The internet has been a core part of our adolescent years, and you’re in charge of making sure Emmett stays safe online.

There are also side stories to unlock alongside the engaging main plot, so make sure to delve into those if you want to uncover more of the retro web! Plus, you can also customise your in-game profile with a bio, avatar, and snazzy theme design. Here’s my favourite part: Feudal Fantasy. As a long-time Final Fantasy fan, I couldn’t help but chuckle when I saw this. Emmett loves this RPG, so he joins the Feudal Fantasy Fans forum.

Pops of Pixels and Drama

With a soundtrack composed by the mastermind behind the music for Slay the Spire, Clark Aboud, you know you’re in for a good time. The pixelated art style and animations are also a charming touch – especially when you’re on a call with friends or watching Feudal Fantasy footage. You can even showcase your drawing skills by making posts on the in-game social pages and selecting which text posts can go up on your profile.

While the internet can be a brilliant place, it’s also got its dark side. It’s best to stay away from the negative aspects, but Emmett needs a little help with this. That’s where you come in! You’ll be confronted by a variety of decisions to make to guide Emmett along his journey. We all know about internet drama, dodgy forums, and the highs and lows of MSN. Luckily, we’ve learned from those past mistakes – Emmett hasn’t just yet.
