Folks without PS Plus Premium should check their existing library of PlayStation classics as some of them are eligible for a free upgrade. Unfortunately, it’s not always clear which games qualify and going through the PS Store can be quiet tedious, but one player has taken it upon themselves to compile a master list and we couldn’t be more thankful.
List of PlayStation classics that can be downloaded again for free on PS5 and PS4
Reddit user Superb_Article_1165 has been doing the lord’s work, compiling a categorized list of PS1 and PSP games that can be re-downloaded for free on the PS5 or PS4 if players purchased them in the past via the PS3/PSP/PS Vita stores.
The list also has a section dedicated to PS3 > PS4 cross-buy games, meaning that if players purchased those titles from the PS3 store at some point, they will have access to the PS4 version for free.
Back in 2011, the infamous PSN outage led Sony to offer players a selection of games for free as compensation. I remember claiming Killzone: Liberation at the time, and later received its current-gen re-release (with trophies) for free.
Unfortunately, Resident Evil and Dino Crisis are not eligible for a free upgrade.
