“Penguins don’t fly!” Altitude Films has revealed the official trailer for The Flight of Bryan, telling the true story of the people who invented a human-powered flying machine. This hybrid doc combines real doc footage with recreations. The Flight of Bryan is a “genre-busting tale” of how unemployed amateur cyclist, Bryan Allen, and father of three, Paul MacCready, with a rag tag team set out on the death-defying quest to untangle the mystery of human powered flight and in doing so win the most coveted prize in aviation (they did this in 1977 flying the Gossamer Condor). Combining a remarkable trove of recently discovered 16mm documentary footage in an imaginative and ground-breaking way with scripted scenes, personal testimony & 4th-wall-busting encounters between the real Bryan and the actors bringing his story to life, this uplifting tale of ingenuity, courage and determination, challenges us to question the assumptions we make about society’s outliers and reminds us of how the stories we tell can help us to understand and perhaps change the world. This stars Bryan Allen, Jordan Renzo, Paul MacCready, Steven O’Neill, Sam Duran, Jose Palma, Josh Harvey, and Frederick Ruth. Holy crap this doc looks fantastic!
