With Diving Gear, you can now swim under the water. The Basic Diving Gear is fine but doesn’t come with much oxygen or speed, so if you have the spare coins, I recommend heading out to buy the Advanced set before you start exploring the underwater areas.

How to Unlock Diving Gear

For starters, you need Diving Gear to head underwater! On Moosewood Island, by the Shipwright at the docks, there’s a set of Basic Diving Gear on the ground. You can purchase it for 3K coins, however, there’s an upgraded version that costs 15K coins further out in the ocean.

Advanced Diving Gear Location

To find the Advanced Diving Gear, you need to hop in a boat and sail past the Statue of Sovereignty. Keep going forward, and carry on until you spot a buoy in the middle of the water. The Advanced Diving Gear is placed on this buoy, which you can directly purchase. Don’t fret if you can’t see it straight away as you sail the ocean, as it’s pretty far out from the statue!

Desolate Deep

While a lot of the underwater areas are empty right now, there’s a particular biome that you can explore. It’s called the Desolate Deep and you can access it directly underneath the buoy where the Advanced Diving Gear is located. Once you’re under the water, you can obtain the Aurora Totem, Trident, and Reinforced Rod. The latter is required to fish in the Brine Pools.
