“Celebrate seven decades of Godzilla.” Roaaarrr!! The King of Monsters is celebrating his 70th anniversary this year. The original Gojira movie opened in movie theaters in November 1954 in Japan, introducing the world to the giant radioactive lizard kaiju monster that would become a cinema icon. Toho Inc. has debuted a 3-1/2 minute tribute video to mark the occasion – it’s a good one. Here’s their full intro: “Celebrate 70 years of Godzilla, from its humble beginnings in 1954 to its groundbreaking cinematic spectacles of today. With each roar and devastating stomp, Godzilla has shattered the boundaries of imagination and inspired a community of filmmakers, artists, and fans. Smashing box office records and earning ever increasing critical acclaim, Godzilla continues to establish itself as the King of the Monsters. Long live the King!” It’s awesome to see this franchise is still going strong, with both Japanese and US movies coming out nowadays, and still making history (as Godzilla Minus One did becoming the first one to win an Academy Award – it’s back in theaters this fall). “From the depths of the sea, to the stars above – Godzilla reigns supreme!” He always does. I love this big guy, happy to see him in many more movies. This is a fun “look back” – click play below. // Continue Reading ›
