“Tell your momma to tell you about that piano… Ask her how them pictures got on there.” Netflix has just revealed the first official trailer for a film titled The Piano Lesson, an adaptation of the August Wilson play, made by the entire Washington family. It’s produced by Denzel Washington, featuring his son John David Washington, directed by his other son Malcolm Washington, making his feature directorial debut. Set for a limited theatrical release in the fall before it’s streaming on Netflix at the end of November. The story follows the lives of the Charles family as they deal with themes of family legacy and more, in deciding what to do with an heirloom, the family piano. Adapted from August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning masterwork, this explores the inter-generational dynamics of identity, resilience and transcendence – revealing startling truths about how we perceive the past and who gets to define our legacy. Featuring an all-star cast including Samuel L. Jackson, John David Washington, Ray Fisher, Michael Potts, Erykah Badu, Skylar Aleece Smith, Jerrika Hinton, Gail Bean, with Danielle Deadwyler and Corey Hawkins. Yep this looks damn good – a very unique trailer, too, incredibly intense in the middle with literal flashes of footage. // Continue Reading ›
