A Furnace is one of the essential crafting stations in The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria. It is used to smelt the precious ores that you find from various ore veins throughout Moria and turn them into useful Ingots that can be used to craft tools, weapons, and armor. As Moria is a treacherous place filled with various enemy types and creatures, it is best to arm yourself with proper gear and it can all be started by building a furnace.
In this guide, we’ll go over how to build a furnace in The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria.
How to Build Furnace in The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria
Building a furnace will require you to unlock its recipe which can be unlocked pretty early in the game as you will find a broken furnace in the tutorial base. You can rebuild the furnace in the tutorial base for 15x Stone and use it to smelt Iron Ores and turn them into Iron Ingots but eventually, you will have to move ahead from that area and build your own base. As you make progress and find a spot for your base, you will be required to make a furnace due to the need for various Ingot materials. To build a furnace it will cost you 20x Stone and a suitable area to place it.
Stones are easy to gather as they can be mined using the pickaxe from the walls and brick structures. Upon gathering the required materials, you will be able to craft the furnace through the Building Menu. Press the B button to open the Building Menu and navigate to the Essentials & Crafting tab to find the furnace recipe. Select the furnace recipe to craft it and then place it by pressing the LMB.
How to Use Furnace in The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria
Once you have built the furnace, there are a couple of requirements that you need to fulfill to use the furnace. The first requirement for using the furnace is placing a Hearth nearby. You cannot access the furnace until you build a hearth near it so, build a Stone Hearth near it to get access to the Furnace.
The second requirement is the fuel for the furnace. A furnace requires Coal as a fuel that you will be able to gather from the Coal Veins throughout Moria. After getting the coal, interact with the furnace to add coal to start the furnace. Now, you will be able to put various kinds of ores inside the furnace to turn them into Ingots and use them to craft various gear items.
