Valby is one of the unlockable descendants you will meet while following the campaign. Unlocking her will require you to gather various materials by completing multiple missions to research Valby. This guide will walk you through unlocking Valby in The First Descendant.
How to Unlock Valby in The First Descendant
Unlocking Valby requires 4 materials essential for initializing her research at Anais. Three out of four materials are obtained by researching them at Anais instead of getting them by completing missions like the early-game unlockable Descendants. Moreover, each material requires a respective Blueprint as a final resource to complete the research that is obtained by a certain Amorphous Material.
All the required materials for unlocking Valby are the following.
Valby Spiral Catalyst
Valby Enhanced Cells
Valby Stabilizer
Valby Code
Before you start finding the Amorphous Materials to get all the blueprints, go to Anais and navigate to Enhanced Materials to see all three required materials for unlocking Valby and the resources for researching each one.
You can find the methods to get each required Amorphous Material respective to the material below.
How to Get Valby Spiral Catalyst
All the Research Materials required for researching Valby Spiral Catalyst are the following.
519x Metal Accelerant
386x Hardener
32x Encrypted Neural Circuit
1x Valby Spiral Catalyst Blueprint
Out of all these materials, the blueprint is the hardest to get, as the rest of them can be obtained by opening the chests. Valby Spiral Catalyst Blueprint has a chance of dropping by opening one of the required Amorphous Materials. You can open the Acquisition Info to see all the Amorphous Materials that contain the blueprint, but the easiest one to get is Amorphous Material Pattern: 009.
Amorphous Material Pattern: 009 has a drop rate of 100% and is obtained by completing the Forgottense mission located in the Restricted Zone area of the Sterile Land region. Once you have obtained the Amorphous Material, the next step is to defeat the Stunning Beauty boss to open it. Go to Seneca and initiate the Stunning Beauty fight. Defeat the Stunning Beauty and interact with the Reconstructed Device to open the Amorphous Material Pattern: 009. However, the drop rate of the Valby Spiral Catalyst Blueprint is only 38% so if you didn’t get the blueprint as a reward, you will have to repeat the whole process of getting the Amorphous Material and then opening it by defeating Stunning Beauty.
Once you have got the Blueprint, you can go to Anais and initiate the Research of the Valby Spiral Catalyst for a cost of 200,000 Gold. It will take 8 hours (real-time) to complete and then you can claim it.
How to Get Valby Enhanced Cells
All the Research Materials required for researching Valby Enhanced Cells are the following.
422x Repton
571x Superfluid
48x Data Processing Neural Circuit
1x Valby Enhanced Cell Blueprint
Out of all these materials, the blueprint is the hardest to get, as the rest of them can be obtained by opening the chests. Valby Enhanced Cells Blueprint has a chance of dropping by opening the Amorphous Material Pattern: 016. Amorphous Material Pattern: 016 has a drop rate of 100% and is obtained by completing the Sepulcher mission located in the Vespers region.
Once you have obtained the Amorphous Material, the next step is to defeat the Executioner boss to open it. Go to Seneca and initiate the Executioner fight. Defeat the Executioner and interact with the Reconstructed Device to open the Amorphous Material Pattern: 016. However, the drop rate of the Valby Enhanced Cells Blueprint is only 38% so if you didn’t get the blueprint as a reward, you will have to repeat the whole process of getting the Amorphous Material and then opening it by defeating Executioner.
Once you have got the Blueprint, you can go to Anais and initiate the Research of the Valby Enhanced Cells for a cost of 200,000 Gold. It will take 8 hours (real-time) to complete and then you can claim it.
How to Get Valby Stabilizer
All the Research Materials required for researching Valby Stabilizer are the following.
246x Monad Shard
239x Compound Coating Material
40x Murky Energy Residue
1x Valby Stabilizer Blueprint
Out of all these materials, the blueprint is the hardest to get, as the rest of them can be obtained by opening the chests. Valby Stabilizer Blueprint has a chance of dropping by opening one of the required Amorphous Materials. You can open the Acquisition Info to see all the Amorphous Materials that contain the blueprint, but the easiest one to get is Amorphous Material Pattern: 029.
Amorphous Material Pattern: 029 has a drop rate of 100% and is obtained by completing the Asylum mission located in the Agna Desert region. Once you have obtained the Amorphous Material, the next step is to defeat the Devourer boss to open it. Go to Seneca and initiate the Devourer fight. Defeat the Devourer and interact with the Reconstructed Device to open the Amorphous Material Pattern: 029. However, the drop rate of the Valby Stabilizer Blueprint is only 38% so if you didn’t get the blueprint as a reward, you will have to repeat the whole process of getting the Amorphous Material and then opening it by defeating Devourer.
Once you have got the Blueprint, you can go to Anais and initiate the Research of the Valby Stabilizer for a cost of 200,000 Gold. It will take 8 hours (real-time) to complete and then you can claim it.
How to Get Valby Code
The final Research Material for unlocking Valby is the Valby Code. There are two different ways through which you can get a Valby Code.
First Method to Get Valby Code
The first method is to initiate the Special Operations mission in Agna Desert called Neutralize Void Experiment and complete its two waves to get Amorphous Material Pattern: 032. However, the drop rate of the Amorphous Material is only 44% so it is not guaranteed that you will get it after completing two waves.
Moreover, each wave takes about 10 minutes to clear so you will spend roughly 20 minutes straight fighting the enemies before you can get the Amorphous Material. Once you have obtained the Amorphous Material, you will have to defeat Devourer to open it and get the Valby Code. However, similar to other blueprints, the Valby Code also has a 38% chance of dropping. If you don’t get the Valby Code, you will have to repeat the whole process of getting the Amorphous Material and then defeating Devourer.
Second Method to Get Valby Code
Another yet easier method is to get Amorphous Material Pattern: 006. It also has a chance of dropping Valby Code when opened and you can farm this Amorphous Material by completing the Rockfall: Vulgus Strategic Outpost mission in the Sterile Land region. The mission requires you to destroy 3 Power Units and an enemy commander in the area which can take about 20-30 seconds in total. You can even complete the mission even quicker if you are using Bunny.
However, the Amorphous Material Pattern: 006 only has a drop rate of 20% so you might have to repeat this mission a few times before you get it. Once you have the Amorphous Material, you can open it by completing the Void Fusion Reactor mission located just east of this mission. Activate the Void Fusion Reactor with the required Void Shards and then eliminate the Elite Tracker to open the Amorphous Material.
Keep in mind that Valby Code has a drop rate of 38% so it is possible that you might not get it the first time when you open the Amorphous Material and have to repeat the process, but it is a faster and easier method than the first method.
Research Descendant: Valby
After obtaining all 4 required materials for unlocking Valby, head back to Albion and speak with Anais. Select the Descendant option and then select Valby. Researching Valby will cost you all 4 materials and 400,000 Gold.
Begin Researching for Valby and it will take 16 hours (real-time) for the research to be complete. Fortunately, the timer goes on even if you are offline so you will most likely use Valby the next day. However, you can immediately complete the research by spending 240 Caliber (premium currency).
