Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree introduces a new leveling system for your character and the spirit ashes you use to increase their attack power and defense. This new leveling system is called the Shadow Realm Blessing and it only influences inside the Realm of Shadow. However, the base stats of your character and spirit ashes do play a significant role inside the Realm of Shadow but to further increase the attack power and defense, you must use the Shadow Realm Blessing.

How to Use the Shadow Realm Blessing in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
The Shadow Realm Blessing is used by resting at any Site of Grace inside the Realm of Shadow. There are two types of blessings included in the Shadow Realm Blessing called the Scadutree Blessing and Revered Spirit Ash Blessing. The Scadutree Blessing is used to increase the character’s Attack Power and Defense to negate the incoming damage, and the Revered Spirit Ash Blessing is used to increase all of the Spirit Ashes/Torrent Attack Power and Defense.
How to Increase Your Attack Power and Defense in the Shadow of the Erdtree
Increasing your attack power to deal more damage with the equipped weapons and defense to negate the incoming damage will require you to redeem the Scadutree Blessing. The Scadutree Blessing is redeemed with the Scadutree Fragment. It is one of the new collectible items scattered throughout the Realm of Shadow and you will find a few of the early ones at Miquella’s Crosses in the Gravesite Plain area.

Upon finding a few Scadutree Fragments, rest at any Site of Grace and select the Shadow Realm Blessing option. From here, select the Scadutree Blessing to use the Scadutree Fragments to increase the attack power and defense of your character. The initial blessing will cost only 1 Scadutree Fragment and the rest of the blessings will cost 2 and 3 Scadutree Fragments when you reach higher levels.
How to Increase Your Spirits/Torrent Attack Power and Defense in the Shadow of the Erdtree
Increasing the Attack Power and Defense of all of your spirits that you use and the Torrent (horse) will require you to redeem the Revered Spirit Ash Blessing. The Revered Spirit Ash Blessing is redeemed with Revered Spirit Ash. It is one of the new collectible items scattered throughout the Realm of Shadow and you will find a few of the early ones at the statues scattered in Gravesite Plain and inside Belurat, Tower Settlement.
