How far can you scroll? Because Italian solo developer Toiu has announced BoomScroll, a bullet heaven game that has you constantly climbing upwards at increasingly ridiculous speeds. While BoomScroll is coming to PC in January 2027, there’s a free demo available right now.
In the game, you keep moving upwards, faster and faster, while trying to survive endless hordes of creatures. You’ll find new weapons, level up, collect loot, recruit characters, and put together different builds. Also, you get rewards for going faster.
It takes inspiration from old-school arcade classics like Space Invaders, alongside more recent indie hits such as Vampire Survivors and Ball X Pit. It’s an entirely hand-drawn game. Take a look at the latest trailer below.
There are 16 characters in the full game, each with their own unique weapons and abilities. Unlocking new characters, weapons, and quests is also part of the progression system, with every run helping you unlock something new and become even more overpowered.
What’s in the BoomScroll demo?
It lets you play through the entire first level, called Fleeting Forest. It includes the first three bosses, four unlockable characters, eight weapons with four available to unlock, and nine passive items with five unlockable ones. You also get 17 global upgrades and 17 quests.
Toiu has also made a couple of changes in the latest demo based on player feedback. For instance, weapons now have a lock icon to show that they can’t be sacrificed for distillation, while a coloured bar behind each weapon icon indicates how many other weapons it has absorbed.
The full game will launch on Steam in early 2027. But if you are curious about it, you can already check out BoomScroll by trying the free demo.
