The new Ashlands update of Valheim brings a lot of new content for players to uncover while settling into the new biome. Upon making the initial base in Ashlands, players must explore the biome for new resources as ordinary buildings won’t stand against the harsh atmosphere of Ashlands.
Crafting the new buildings that can survive in Ashlands will first require players to get their hands on the two key primary resources of Ashlands called Ashwood and Grausten. This guide will help you how to get Ashwood and Grausten in Valheim.
How to Get Ashwood in Valheim
The Ashwood is obtained from the Scorched Trees found only in the Ashlands biome. These are the giant burnt trees scattered throughout the biome and found easily while exploring the biome. Equip at least the Stone Axe and use it to chop down the scorched trees. Once the tree is chopped, break the dropped logs to turn them into Ashwood.
Ashwood is used for crafting various building items along with some of the newly added weapons. One of the earliest new weapons that you can craft using Ashwood and other new resources is Ash Fang, a new bow.
How to Get Grausten in Valheim
Grausten is another key primary resource of Ashlands which is obtained from mining the ruins of the buildings littered throughout the biome. Equip the at least Stone Mining Pick and use it to mine the building ruins to gather the dropped Grausten on the ground.
The building ruins are quite big and can be easily seen from a fair distance. As you mine these ruins and gather Gausten, you can use it to craft several new building items using the Hammer tool. It is also recommended to build your base with Grausten in the Ashlands as it is not affected by the atmosphere of the Ashlands.
