Slayers 2 has three fishing rods: Basic, Rare, and Legendary. Among them, these have the potential to catch the rarest items in the game, including armour such as the Lost Gear and other valuable equipment and items.

How to get the Legendary Fishing Rod in Slayers 2

Fishing Permit
To begin fishing, you need to first speak with the Dock Master NPC, located at the docks of Mistfall Harbour village.
At level 45, you can get a quest from him to find the Fishing Permit. This golden page is pretty easy to spot and spawns in or near the house located directly behind the Dockmaster NPC, across the river.
Buying a Basic Rod
With a Fishing Permit, you’re now allowed to purchase Fishing Rods. To the right (South) of the pier that the Dockmaster stands on, you’ll see Fishing Rods propped up for sale, costing 3,500 Wen each.
Unlocking Baits
At the Butterfly Estate, find and speak to the Shiori NPC to collect her restocking the infirmary quest (level 70 requirement). To complete this quest, you need to return to Mistfall Harbour Docks and enter the Alchemist store, located next to where you buy the Basic Rod.
Each item needed to complete this quest is crafted at the Alchemist Lab, requiring Demon Horns and Wen.
After returning the Elixirs and speaking to Shinori, you’ll unlock access to the Bait Shop, located in Hidden Mist Village. This Bait store offers better baits as an alternative to the classic worm. Ideally, you want to stock up on Fish Heads, as these make the grind for a Legendary Rod easier.
Upgrading Fishing Rod
Also in Hidden Mist Village is the Upgrader, who also enhances Fishing Rods at a cost.
This requires Wen and a material, typically Refinement Ore, and each level upgrade will increase the Luck of the rod.
When upgrading, there is a percentage chance of success, which slowly decreases at each higher level.
Unlocking The Rare Rod
To unlock the Rare Rod, you need to fish up five Golden Fish. After which, return to where you bought the Basic Rod and purchase the Rare Rod from beside it, costing 10,000 Wen.
If this part is taking a while, I suggest backtracking to Hidden Mist Village to upgrade your Basic Rod’s Luck, and invest in Fish Head Bait to increase your chances of encountering Golden Fish.
Fishing Legendary Fish
With the Rare Rod, you now need to fish up two legendary fish: one Krathulon and one Crustadon.
Again, if you’re struggling, I recommend investing in Rare Rod Upgrades and better bait.
After collecting one of each of the Legendary fish, speak with the Dockmaster NPC. He will give you some information on how to get the Drowned Lure in exchange for 2,500 Wen.
To get the Drowned Lure, head onto the rock facing the waterfall, next to the bridge (and Shrine) at Mistfall Harbour. Unequip all bait, and fish successfully 5 times. On the fifth reel, you’ll get the Drowned Lure.
The Ghost
After retrieving the Drowned Lure, wait for nighttime, then drop off the boulder you were fishing on, and head South under the bridge passage to speak with the Ghost.
Note: The Ghost only appears at nighttime!
The Ghost will spout some lore and will want you to give over the Legendary Fish you caught earlier. After doing this, you’ll finally receive the Legendary Fishing Rod location.
Legendary Fishing Rod
Finally, head to Butterfly Estate. On an eastern cliff with a tree hanging over the river below, begin fishing with the Drowned Lure equipped.
After your first catch, you should receive the message “This is the place. Twenty years I’ve watched it.” on the left of your screen.
Once you’ve got the prompt, keep fishing here until you fish up the Legendary Rod. This is mostly RNG-based, but shouldn’t take you too long if you’ve invested in upgrades.
