Indie action RPG Kingdom of Night is coming to consoles this winter. Developed by Friends of Safety and published by DANGEN Entertainment, the game first came out in December 2025 for PC. The game’s retro pixel art and atmospheric style earned it positive reviews from critics and players alike.
Kingdom of Night launches on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on November 5th, 2026. Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X|S preorders are now live, and there’s a 10% preorder discount available before launch.
On PS5, there’s also a special Kingdom of Night — MIDNIGHT EDITION. That version includes the complete game plus the NIGHT OF ’97 PSN Avatar Collection, which has 25 exclusive PSN avatars based on Kingdom of Night characters.
It’s 1987 and an ordinary Friday night in the small town of Miami, Arizona
Everything suddenly goes horribly wrong because a satanic cult accidentally unleashes the ancient evil Baphomet. There are demons running around the streets, while high school student John has to go out into the night and rescue his friends before Miami is completely lost.
A lot like Stranger Things, Kingdom of Night obviously plays around with the suburban-kids-meet-supernatural-danger vibe. There’s a new trailer showing the game’s 80s nostalgia, teenage drama, demons, and cosmic horror. Watch it here!
Kingdom of Night has an expansive interconnected map and open-ended quests
You can interact with a wide cast of NPCs, uncover the stories of the town’s residents, and take on the Demon Generals in whatever order you want. For your character build, there are five classes to choose from. They are Barbarian, Knight, Rogue, Necromancer, and Sorcerer.
You can play the full adventure solo as John, or you can opt for two-player local co-op. The co-op lets you combine different character classes and work around their strengths, so a Barbarian and Sorcerer, for example, can approach the chaos differently than two players running similar builds.
You can also check out Kingdom of Night on Steam.
