It’s Stardew Valley but in a broken world where the weather is actively trying to murder your crops. Doloc Town is a farming game in the apocalypse. And despite the dark twist, it’s still cute. Developed by RedSaw Games and published by Logoi Games, it’s available on PC.
Acid rain, ridiculous heat, ruined cities, dangerous wilderness…
Doloc Town drops you into a vibrant but crumbling post-apocalyptic world where you’re rebuilding civilization. You farm, craft, build, and explore. The pixel art is hand-drawn and mixes the cosy Stardew Valley kind of charm with a world that has seen better days.
To explore, you’ve got wastelands, mysterious caves and the desolate Old City Ruins. Each region has its own resources, enemies and stories. The further you go, the deeper you get into the unexplored parts of the world and into all the secrets.
You also need to be a little careful about getting home. The wilderness has no shortage of vicious creatures and hostile enemies hiding around abandoned ruins. Your customisable drone companions are there to help. And you can upgrade them with weapon and lighting modules as well.
Meanwhile, crops in Doloc Town have growth stages, watering requirements, plant health, fertilizer and plant protection. You even get gene modifiers later in the game that you can tinker with. And for the seeds, you need to unlock them by finding hidden, protected samples out in the wild, doing research and providing the required materials.
Doloc Town has a bunch of residents to meet
You can visit them, build relationships, learn their personal stories and earn their trust. You’ll also meet several distinct faction representatives and invite them into town, where they’ll help with your farming. Friends can give you meaningful gifts, including an old-school cassette player that you can fill with tapes you discover all over the map.
Doloc Town is now available on Steam for PC.
