Cookie Clicker-Like Incremental Title Hearth and Hamlet Launches on PC

Phorust Studios launched its cosy incremental citybuilder Hearth and Hamlet a few days ago, and the game is already racking up numbers. The tiny medieval kingdom has now passed 100,000 units sold in just seven days.

Hearth and Hamlet is a medieval city-builder clicker with casual, simulation, and strategy elements. You take a humble campfire in the woods and turn it into a huge fantasy civilisation. Gather food, wood, stone and gold, assign your growing population to different jobs, build things, and unlock technologies. Also, part of life includes making laws, trading with other settlements and expanding across the land and seas.

The world is full of lakes and rivers, magical swamps and distant lands, all in a bright, colourful medieval pixel style. Flowers bounce around, leaves move in the breeze, and foxes and deer wander through the woodland, giving it a charming presentation.

The bird’s-eye view lets you get enough distance to oversee the whole community. It also gives the UI room to exist without making everything feel cramped or cluttered. If you like a passive, low-stress game that lets you build something pretty, Hearth and Hamlet is the one.

Hearth and Hamlet brings a bit of variety

There are taverns, town squares and blacksmiths, along with libraries and alchemists. There are also barracks, banks, magic academies, defensive fortifications and plenty more as the settlement gets bigger.

Meanwhile, the actual building system is pretty deep in terms of what you can eventually construct. But you don’t have complete control over exactly where upgrades or buildings go. Like there are moments where you’re basically just sitting there waiting for resources to accumulate.

Hearth and Hamlet is developed by Phorust Studios and published by Runic Forge and Gamersky Games. It’s the debut release for Runic Forge, which is the publishing arm of RUNE, an indie game publisher based in the UK. You can check it out on Steam.
