The Special Skills each hen performs have rather… unique descriptions that don’t prelude much to their battle execution. Fortunately, after some trials and testing, I have some answers! In this Grow a Chicken Fighter Best Special guide, I’ll give you a rundown on the best, most eggscellent special skills and which Hen they best pair with.
Let’s gooooo!
Grow a Chicken Fighter Best Special
Truthfully, the best special title isn’t a singular award. This is due to the Hens having different stats and battle prowess, and the “best special” may not fit them. But four specials come to mind based on performance that synergise well with most hens, and those that currently occupy the meta. These are, of course… *drumroll*
Voodoo, Cycle of Ash, Za Warudo, and Titan Mode.
Voodoo
Voodoo Skill: Whatever lands on the doll lands on you. The doll is fine with that.
During the special, the host Hen negates all damage temporarily and applies a shield, giving it strong defence and attack immunity. All incoming damage is reflected.
Host Hen: Doll Hen (Divine rarity)
Found in: Haunt Eggs (2% chance) and Blazing Egg (3% chance)
The Voodoo Special, despite belonging to the Doll Hen, is actually better paired with the Reaper Rooster from the Haunt Egg (Cosmic rarity with a <1% hatch chance). Reaper is the rarest Hen from the Haunt Egg, and monopolises on HP, making it a great tank for PvP in the pits and the Tower.
It’s also one of the most sought-after Hens at the moment due to the overpowered combo of a Reaper Rooster with Voodoo.
Cycle of Ash
Cycle of Ash Skill: Burns the field down and makes it bloom in the same breath.
An AoE skill that deals spontaneous damage in a circle from the host. The bloom after gives a temporary DMG buff to the Hen.
Host Hen: Radiant Fenguang (Celestial rarity)
Found in: Royal Egg (1% chance) and Blazing Egg (2% chance)
Similarly to the Voodoo Special, Cycle of Ash better suits a different Hen entirely from the one it’s hosted by. The 404 Chick (Secret rarity with a <1% hatch chance from the Cursed Egg) is a meta powerhouse, with great speed and damage.
Synergising with the 404’s damage affinity, Cycle of Ash deals far more damage with the 404 than it would with Radiant Fenghuang. On top of this, the slight DMG buff post-execution makes follow-up attacks lethal for any opponent in the pits or on the tower.
Za Warudo
Za Warudo Skill: Stops time, beats you senseless, and the damage lands at once.
IS THAT A JOJO REFERENCE?! This Special freezes an enemy in place whilst your Hen lands multiple hits, and when time resumes, they’re pummelled by all hits at once. This prevents Hens from escaping or moving out of the way of attacks, giving a guaranteed lethal dose of pecks and punches.
Host Hen: Golden Goose (Secret rarity) and Baron Cluck (Mythic rarity)Found in:
Golden Goose: Fortune Egg (1% chance) and Blazing Egg (25% chance)Baron Cluck: Royal Egg (6% chance), Fortune Egg (43% chance), Arena Egg (2% chance), and Blazing Egg (9% chance)
Unlike the first two Specials, this one fits a whole roster of Hens. If you don’t have 404 or Reaper, but have a different best Hen, then I suggest applying Za Warudo to them. Ideally, you want a balanced Hen, with an affinity for attack and speed.
Titan Mode
Titan Mode Skill: Transforms into a titan and rampages for a few seconds.
The Hen becomes the size of the Golden Goose (from the Pit games) and stomps on everything below. This Skill deals serious damage and affects Hens in an AoE when surrounded.
Host Hen: Founder Rooster (Legendary rarity) and Talon Titan (Mythic rarity)Found in:
Founder Rooster: Thunder Egg (3% chance), Royal Egg (6% chance), Fortune Egg (56% chance), Fang Egg (3% chance), Blazing Egg (8% chance), and Ordnance Egg (5% chance)Talon Titan: Colossus Egg (10% chance)
And finally, Titan Mode! Like the Special above, this one fits different Hens, but works best with high damage/power Hens. It’s not my favourite Special, but it’s pretty brutal when you see a Hen be clobbered by something far larger than it.
How To Give New Specials to a Hen
If you want to give a Hen a new Special, be it from my suggestions or otherwise, you need to invest in Fusion. First, select your MAIN HEN (the one you want to give the Special to), and then choose the Hen you want to take the Special from. For example, Reaper Rooster + Doll Hen.
Next, in the fusion menu, look in the bottom right for the Special selection. Use one of your free locks to keep the Special you desire. This will guarantee the fused Hen will have the desired Special.
You can use the final lock on whatever else you want to keep, be it visual cosmetic or stat-related.
Note: If you fuse the Hen again, you will need to always lock the Special in place so that you don’t accidentally lose it.
