The method of unlocking The Portal Races is unique and can be easily missed if you’re rushing through the tutorial to get to the main game. While your race in The Portal determines your base stats and cosmetics, it’s not the end of the world if you accidentally pick the wrong one.

The Portal Races
There are 7 races in total in The Portal, with two being variants of Humans and Elves. The tutorial is the most important part at the start of the game, as this is where you can pick the race you’ll play as. You’re warned in-game that you cannot change your race after choosing, but it’s possible if you have a Race Reroll Mirror.
Before you eat anything in the tutorial house when you first begin, check which race corresponds with the food item to make sure you unlock the one you want.
Human
How to Unlock
During the tutorial, you need to select the Milk on the table by the ladder. There’s a 90% chance of rolling this Demi-human race when you choose the Milk.

Corrupted Human [Human Variant]
The Corrupted Human is the second variant of Humans. There’s a 10% chance to roll this race when you select the Milk option in the starting house during the tutorial.

Elf
How to Unlock
Eat the Shiny Mushroom during the tutorial in the house. There’s a 90% chance of getting the regular variant of the Demi-human Elf race.

High Elf [Elf Variant]
When you eat the Shiny Mushroom, you have a 10% chance of rolling the High Elf variant.

Beastmen
All of the Beastmen races, including Cat, Wolf, and Fox, are unlocked by eating Raw Meat during the tutorial. Both the Cat and Wolf races have a 45% chance to drop, whereas the Fox race is much rarer.
Cat
45% roll chance.

Can You Reroll Your Race?
Despite the game saying you cannot change your race, you actually can. You need to use the Race Reroll Mirror to do so, which is a Tier 1 item, selling for 2 Tria.
I’m not quite sure how to get the Race Reroll Mirror item yet, but once I find out, I’ll add the information to this section
How Stat Points Work
Stat Points work the same for all races in The Portal. You can unlock the following buffs per Stat Point:
STR:
Physical DMG increases by 3
VIT:
DEF increases by 2HP Regen increases by 0.05Maximum HP increases by 10
AGI:
Attack Speed increases by 0.008Movement Speed increases by 0.005
DEX:
Cast Speed increases by 0.03Critical DMG increases by 1Critical Rate increases by 0.5
INT:
MP Regen increases by 0.01Magic DMG increases by 2Maximum HP increases by 5
WIS:
Magic DEF increases by 1MP Regen increases by 0.05Magic DMG increases by 1
