OtherSide Entertainment and Megabit Publishing have apparently laid the foundation for a big world today. It’s their stealth game, Thick as Thieves, which they’re planning to be the first in a series they want to keep building on later.
Thick as Thieves launched on Steam for PC players today at just $4.99. It’s a stealth-action heist that you can either play solo or with another player through two-player online co-op. The development team consists of people who’ve previously worked on the Thief series (The Dark Project, The Metal Age, and Deadly Shadows).
Thick as Thieves takes place in the 1910s
It’s set in Kilcairn, which is an alternate-history Scottish city inspired by the 1910s, where magic is starting to collide with early technology. So, you get arcane secrets, security systems, guild politics, rooftops, guarded estates, and shady streets.
You play as a member of the Thieves’ Guild trying to prove yourself by robbing important places. It also includes uncovering secrets of the Constabulary and the city’s nobility.
Right now, the game has two playable thieves called The SPIDER and The CHAMELEON. It also includes two highly replayable maps, 16 contracts, six unique gear items, and three mission types.
No heist plays out the same way twice. Security layouts shift, guards move around differently, and difficulty changes from Novice all the way up to Master Thief.
Meanwhile, you get some pretty hi-fi gadgets to play with. There’s Slithersap, which can short-circuit security lights. Smoke Bombs are for breaking the line of sight when everything goes wrong. And Pickpocket Fairy can trigger switches remotely.
OtherSide and Megabit also dropped a new launch trailer. Take a look at Thick as Thieves below.
Be sure to read our next news on The Guardian of Nature. It’s a charming solarpunk adventure that’s also about raising environmental awareness.
