Natsume is really trying to make people care about Harvest Moon again. No offense, though! The company has announced the release date for Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea on Switch 1 and Switch 2. It’s on September 24th, 2026, just in time for autumn.
This is actually Natsume’s first Harvest Moon game on Switch 2. It’s an open world, with a bigger world, upgraded visuals, hidden caves, islands, climbing mechanics, and animal companions with special abilities.
The announcement got people arguing about Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons. Most players think that the games have lost their ambition and stopped innovating. Harsh, but true. And it all dates back to the Harvest Moon split.
In case you don’t know, Story of Seasons is actually the original Harvest Moon series and developer. Harvest Moon was only the English title back then. When the original devs started publishing games themselves, they couldn’t use the Harvest Moon name anymore, so they switched to Story of Seasons.
Meanwhile, Natsume kept the Harvest Moon trademark and started making entirely different games under that name. Unfortunately, for Natsume, they couldn’t get the Story of Seasons-level polish from Harvest Moon.
Let’s talk about Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea
The story starts off in Bloomfield Village, where you live a normal, peaceful farmer life. But that’s only until some creepy mist starts leaking out of the Forest of Echoes. Then, wild animals start attacking people, and disasters start wrecking villages.
The Switch 2 version costs more than the Switch 1 version. Switch 1 costs $49.99, while the Switch 2 version costs $59.99. Pre-orders are open on the official website for PC, Switch, PS5 and Xbox. You can check the game out on the official website.
