Millions of PS Store users in the U.S. may qualify for free PS Store credit after Sony settled a class action lawsuit over “supracompetitive” digital game prices. The company was accused of hiking up the prices of its games after ceasing the sale of vouchers via third-party retailers.

Eligible PS Store users will automatically receive store credit from Sony lawsuit settlement

The $7.85 million settlement, which was originally rejected in July 2025 due to objections raised by a judge, will now go ahead. Worth noting that while Sony chose to settle, it denies any wrongdoing.

In a press release, the Saveri Law Firm noted that all those who qualify to receive a portion of the settlement (or whatever’s left of it after all the expected cuts) will receive PS Store Wallet Funds automatically unless they opt out.

Here’s who qualifies:

Those in the U.S. who purchased a game from the PS Store between April 1, 2019, and December 31, 2023.

You purchased game(s) from the PS Store that were previously sold via retail/third-party vouchers, and at least 200 vouchers of each game were purchased by customers before April 1, 2019.

The prices of those specific games were then raised by the PS Store by at least 50 cents.

Don’t expect a massive payout, but free store credit doesn’t hurt, even if it’s $1-2.

Similar lawsuits have been filed in other countries, including the U.K., the outcomes of which are still awaited.
