Game Freak, majorly associated with the development of the Pokémon series, is stepping out of their comfort zone. They’re gearing up for their first AAA title with publisher Fictions alongside. Called Beast of Reincarnation, the title is directed by Kota Furushima, who has previously worked on battle systems and sound for various Pokémon titles.
By definition, Beast of Reincarnation fits into the action RPG category with some real-time and turn-based combat. The narrative is about uncovering secrets while exploring the connection between the two main characters, Emma and Koo. Take a look at the latest trailer below.
Pre-orders for Beast of Reincarnation come with rewards
The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam for PC, and will launch on August 4th, 2026. It’s available for pre-ordering across all three platforms now. Pricing is set at $59.99 for the Standard Edition and $69.99 for the Deluxe Edition across all platforms.
If you pre-order now, the standard edition will give you an alternate Brown Shiba Skin for Koo, along with 30,000 Amber, the in-game currency. The Digital Deluxe Edition includes both Black and Brown Shiba Skins for Koo, the Oni’s Hat for Emma, the Big Dipper sword, 100,000 Amber, and vegetable seedlings.
As for the story, Beast of Reincarnation is set in Japan in the year 4026. It’s a post-apocalyptic version of the country where the world has been wrecked by something called blight. With forests suddenly appearing in the middle of wastelands, the title mixes nature, corruption, and human conflict. You’ll probably notice a vibe similar to Princess Mononoke in the story.
It all revolves around Emma, an 18-year-old Sealer, who has her own issues since she’s an outcast because of her affliction. She shares most of the journey with Koo, a stray dog that’s also affected by the blight. The gameplay involves controlling Emma directly while also issuing commands to Koo.
