Another small indie project is coming to PC. It’s Pond Keeper, and developer Dynamic Cell Games has put out a playable demo on Steam during the Earth Appreciation Festival. The game’s theme is restoring nature, so the timing of the launch perfectly lines up with it!

Pond Keeper is a casual, indie simulation. The full release is planned for PC on Steam for this summer in July 2026. You can check out the Pond Keeper demo on Steam or take a look at the latest trailer first. The game uses hand-drawn art with procedurally rendered fish animations. It keeps things visually soft and lively at the same time.

Pond Keeper is a relaxing creature-breeding game

You breed different species to create new colours and patterns. Then, you sell those results to customers who keep the economy moving. The money and reputation you earn feed directly back into expanding your operation. It helps you open up larger ponds and later entirely new biomes.

Along the way, there’s a bigger objective sitting in the background. You need to clean up a neglected aquatic environment and turn it into something lively again with plants and decorations.

Breeding unlocks genes that lead to entirely new combinations of colours, patterns and even species to collect. Redesigning ponds places plants that give bonuses and help fish thrive. Everything you discover gets logged into a Collection Journal.

With a cosy management vibe, Pond Keeper starts as murky, empty water, but turns into a curated underwater display. The ponds actually act like a canvas, since customisation is a big part of the title. You’re arranging plants, decorations and habitats to build something that looks and functions the way you want.
