A new PlayStation 5 co-op action game is out today, and getting some solid reviews now that players are able to check it out.

What new PS5 co-op game is getting solid reviews?

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, a first-person shooter developed by Saber Interactive and published by Focus Entertainment, is out now. The game follows the story of an evil entity known as the Sludge God being released onto Earth, and a team of mercenaries coming together to fight the zombies it turns people into and save the world.

On OpenCritic, the game is getting solid reviews, sitting at a 74 average score amongst critics, with 58% of critics recommending the game. Notably, many praise the game’s fun mechanics, and how chaotic it can get.

DualShockers’ Shane Limbaugh said the game ” is an unbelievably good time. Even in its worst moments, it’s still a pretty solid zombie shooter with some great set pieces. That being said, any problems with the game can and probably will be fixed in time.” PlayStation Universe’s Ben Fellows echoed those sentiments, calling the game “pure co-op chaos with confidence and flair.”

CGMagazine’s Zubi Khan said the game “is a decent zombie horde shooter made better with friends, but one that, despite its short run time, can feel overly repetitive and uninspired,” while ComingSoon’s Tyler Treese called it “a real blast to play and a refreshing co-op shooter.”

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
