Heartopia Fishing Guide

To unlock the Fishing Hobby in Heartopia, all you need to do is work through the main story quests! Eventually, you meet Vanya, who teaches you the hobby and grants you your first fishing rod.

Fishing Hobby Upgrades

While the Fishing Hobby sticks to the basics at first, as you level up your friendship with Vanya, you unlock tons more features. Some of these features include upgraded fishing rods, such as the Ocean Master Rod at level 8. This rod speeds up rare fish catches by 30%!

Max Level

Once you reach level 10, you also unlock a quest for a fishing challenge! At this level, Vanya can visit your home to drop off fishing-related goodies, as well as offer daily quests which reward you with Legendary rarity bait.

Plus, you learn the Tide Whisper technique, which grants you the ability to know when a Legendary rarity fish is nearby.

How to Increase Vanya’s Friendship Level

To build up your friendship with Vanya, remember to give them gifts! They have preferences, but most of all, they’re happy with any fish you give them. However, remember not gift them items that pollute the ocean, rotten food or any form of trash.

Bait Explained

You can purchase Bait from Vanya and craft it, but you are often rewarded with Bait for completing certain tasks or when redeeming codes. But what is Bait used for, and is it worth using?

Fish are still obtainable without Bait, but it does provide some buffs. For instance, with Bait, you don’t have to wait as long for a fish to bite. Depending on the type of Bait you use, you may even have a higher chance of catching rarer fish.

Unlocking More Fishing Content

To unlock new fish for you to catch, you need to level up the Fishing Hobby! As you level up, there are more fish available for you to catch, including rarer ones which sell for more Gold.

With the fish you catch, you can cook up a variety of dishes, such as Fish N Chips and a Smoked Fish Bagel. Food items can be used to replenish stamina or to sell for even more Gold.
