Developer Project Cloud Games and publisher Perp Games announced the release date for its upcoming PS5 action RPG, The Relic: First Guardian. Alongside the date, a brand-new trailer featuring a snippet of gameplay was shown, giving those interested a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming game.
Dark fantasy PS5 action RPG The Relic: First Guardian gets May 2026 release date
Thanks to the recently released trailer, we know that The Relic: The First Guardian will launch for PS5 on May 26, 2026. Here is the release date trailer, as well as a brief description, giving players an idea of what Project Cloud Games’ action RPG is all about:
“The Relic: First Guardian is a journey that follows forgotten voices in a mysterious world. Every trace you encounter is the final record of someone who once lived here. In this world, you are not a legendary hero; you are the one who restores memory and a keeper of stories.”
As seen in the trailer above, the combat looks similar to that found in FromSoftware’s slate of action RPGs, Dark Souls and Elden Ring. However, Project Cloud Games is differentiating itself in a couple of ways. One major difference is that stamina is not used when attacking, it is only consumed for survival purposes like defense and dodging. Also, skills do not consume resources and are based solely on cooldowns.
From the start of The Relic: First Guardian, players will be able to choose from five distinct weapon types, each with its own themes and moves. Each also includes 12 exclusive skill trees, allowing players to customize their move sets. This focus on customization extends to its character progression. Instead of character levels, characters improve by collecting memories called Relics. Each Relic is “imbued with the emotions and wishes of those who came before” and carries one of over 70 unique passive effects. There are over 70 bosses that players can test their unique character builds with.
The Relic: First Guardian can be wishlisted on the PlayStation Store now.
