Maximus is one of the new characters in Disney Dreamoight Valley added with the Wishblossom Ranch expansion. He is one of the rideable mount characters with a special long jump ability in the Dreamlight Valley. However, since he is exclusive to the expansion, players must own the expansion to discover and unlock him. In this guide, we’ll go over how you can unlock Maximus in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
How to Unlock Maximus in Disney Dreamlight Valley
As mentioned above, the first and foremost requirement for unlocking Maximus is owning the Wishblossom Ranch expansion. Once players have bought the Expansion, they will be able to go to the Wishblossom Ranch, a new world beyond Dreamlight Valley. The Wishblossom Ranch comprises three distinct biomes and a deep cavern area. Maximus is located in the Crystal Cavern of Wishing Alps, which players will access as they progress through the main story.
Acquire Wishing Alps’ Crystal Key
To get to the Crystal Cavern from Wishing Alps, players will have to get the Wishing Alps’ Crystal Key. It is found in the cave in the Ranch Highlands area that players will access at the end of the Wheel Big Trouble quest for Goofy. After acquiring the key, you need to take it to Tinker Bell at the Wishblossom Heart.
Explore the Crystal Cavern and Save Wishblossom
From here, players need to progress the Crystal Cavern: Wishing Alps quest, which will lead them into the cavern area, where they will meet another Giant Wishblossom flower. Similar to the situation at the Wishblossom Heart, there will be some Strange Red Crystals around the cavern area. The players must destroy these crystals to restore the power of the Wishblossom flower.
For the first crystal, go to the path on the right (blue area) of the flower. It will lead you to a locked door. To open the door, you have to press both of the floor switches. Go along the spiral stairs just before the door to make your way around the boulder. Push the boulder to the right floor switch. Once done, stand on the left floor switch while mounting the horse. As the door opens, it will reveal the first strange red crystal. Destroy the crystal by interacting with it while mounting the horse.
For the second crystal, track back to the main area and go to the elevator behind the flower (green area). Follow the path to find the crystal at the ledge of the rock. Destroy the second crystal.
For the final strange red crystal, go to the path left of the flower, the pink path. Head inside and take the elevator down. Push the boulder to the floor switch. Now, head back up using the elevator and continue ahead. Take a left from the fork and interact with the lever to lower the drawbridge. Stand on the floor switch on the other side of the drawbridge to trigger the door. Now, go back and the red crystal will be in the small cave room for you to destroy.
Escape With Maximus
After destroying all the red crystals in the cavern area, return to the Wishblossom flower. Speak to the flower, and it will spawn Maximus to help you return to the ranch. Mount Maximus and go over to the river gap behind the flower. Use the gallop ability to jump across the river. Keep following the path and gallop your way over the gaps to exit the Crystal Cavern area. It will conclude the quest and unlock Maximus as a rideable mount for the player.
