On your path to obtaining the Fabulous Rod, you’ll need to discover how to get the Nova Mutation in Fisch. Fortunately for you, my guide tells you how to increase encounter odds for this mutation, and I’ll provide a little information on the overall questline.
Start playing Fisch via Roblox. For more on why you may need Nova, check out our Fabulous Rod guide.
How To Get The Nova Mutation in Fisch
5% chance during the Starfall event
Occurs naturally at a 1/169 chance, or can be summoned if using a Starfall Totem at night.
15% chance if using the Rod of the Cosmos
Obtained via Meteorologist when giving him Meteor Shards
100% chance if using a Starlight Worm
A Secret Bait obtained from the Angler (16% chance per quest)
The Nova Mutation itself applies a 7.5x value enhancer on fish, whilst their body alternates between a white and purple shifting effect.
Now that you know where to obtain Nova and its value, let’s discuss why you might need mutated Nova fish.
Fabulous Deity Quetline
Nova, aside from being somewhat rare and high value, appears as one of the required mutations in the Fabulous Deity questline to get the Fabulous Rod.
During Fabulous Beginnings (First three quests), the Deity NPC requests you bring back a Sparkling Nova Frozen Walnut, alongside some other catches with their own unique mutations spread.
Frozen Walnuts are only found in the Overgrowth Caves of Northern Expedition. They’re found with relative ease and have little to no resilience, making them easy to reel in. To get a Sparkling Nova Frozen Walnut, I recommend using the Rod of the Cosmos, or your preferred rod with the Blessed or Glittered enchant, and a Starlight Worm during a Night of the Luminous.
This gives the best chances to find a Sparkling Nova Frozen Walnut, as you’re unable to appraise or trade for specific catches for this questline.
